many people who enjoy fmab disregard how morally ambiguous it is. like we as the audience love (lets say) roy mustang.... that man is a War Criminal ! hes funny and i find his character quite likeable but if we go deeper we truly find how much imperialism has brainwashed ppl

it is absolutely a metaphor for the holocaust, and its interesting bc we WANT the protagonists to win (which they should) however it often leaves me feeling conflicted. hawkeye, mustang, etc. have all committed absolutely EVIL acts and yet i still like them

the author did the best job at depicting the imperialist militaries (like the us) bc they r ppl just doing their jobs TECHNICALLY but they also carried out vile acts bc they believed thats what they must do to protect their country WHICH THEY DIDNT as the ishvalans held no threat

as the audience we have to think... how does this apply to our real lives? if u are close w a cop or a soldier of some kind, how are u detaching what they do from themselves??
