I don’t have a post-secondary degree and I spent a lot of my 20s either in very precarious situations or taking care of a baby, so I feel like I’m only just now catching up on all the books people read when they were 21. So uhhhh bear with me, I worry my book tweets are juvenile
I mean, I was always reading! Just not necessarily the smart classics. Anyway, I accept that I have a lot of defensiveness rooted in academic insecurity. The biggest chip on my shoulder is that I don’t have one single damn degree and I worry it’s because I’m not good enough
I live in the valley of regret between “it’s cool, lots of working class people will never have degrees” and “omg who would I have been if I’d been able to finish my undergrad degree and do an MA and a PhD like I wanted, I am so abysmally insufficient” lol
The first thing I did when my kid was born was open an education fund for him so that he would never have to be like me. I will make sure that he is never like me 🙏
