I'm very concerned that the NYTs dropped this foia lawsuit last year (h/t . @mgTrumpist). I suspect that they got dynamite stuff on Ukraine, the Bidens and Ciaramella stuff, or learned of its existence, but are hiding it from us for political reasons. https://www.courthousenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Hunter-Biden.pdf
After the Times dismissed the case, I filed a foia request with the State Department to get whatever the Times got. I got a phone call stating "nothing," but they would not respond in writing, despite requests. Today they confirmed my request "is still being processed." Sigh.
Keep in mind that the NYT’s underlying foia requests are now 14 months old. And they are the Times! I’d be surprised if they didn’t get the documents they wanted by now. Unless they were warned they would be damaging to Biden and backed off for that reason.
Hold the presses. Something went wrong with the dismissal. The Times case is still active! Cool. 😎 https://twitter.com/jray_redfever/status/1282843497444376576
Oh boy. The Times already has PLENTY of these documents. But do we??? Stay tuned ... and THANKS @jray_redfever !
It looks like DOJ has produced far more than State. It also looks like the Times has trimmed its request to focus on 2017 & forward (meaning, post-Biden/Ukraine, except to the extent investigated by Trump). And the Times will get THOSE documents in time for the election. Ugh!
BUT, it seems the Times already got the earlier pre-2017 stuff from the State Department! Was it revealed to the public or not? I'll try to find out tomorrow.
Sorry for the stream of consciousness. I started this thread thinking that I knew what I was talking about, but learned much I hadn't known in the space of 20 minutes. 😮
I don't have an answer yet on whether public has seen what was produced to the NYT in this foia lawsuit. I have inquiries in the departments' foia staffs and their attorneys. But here's what I think I know so far. First, NYT's foia case numbers (8 in all) are: F-2019-06255 ...
F-2019-06257, F-2019-06258, F-2019-06260, F-2019-06261, F-2019-06312, F2019-06321, F-2019-06323, and F-2019-06325.
Second, no documents are posted on DOS's foia website (yet) under those case numbers. But ...
I think when more than one case number applies to the same document, DOS will probably just use the earliest one (which may not be NYT's case numbers in this case). AND, there seems to be a lag of a few months between producing the documents to the requester, and posting them...
... on line. Let's use Hunter Biden for an example. 29 documents uploaded since October, many of which are under case # F-2019-05778: https://foia.state.gov/Search/Results.aspx?searchText=Hunter%20AND%20Biden&beginDate=&endDate=&publishedBeginDate=20191001&publishedEndDate=20200714&caseNumber=
This document, which we all were exited to see, was uploaded by DOS on 3/11/20, was one of them, but it was actually to the requester on 10/31/19. The requester was probably @jsolomonReports because HE exposed the document on 11/4/19. See here: https://www.scribd.com/document/433389211/HunterBidenFollowBlinkenTwitter
So it appear that the (pre-Covid) lag time between the journalist getting the source document, and DOS uploading the source document to its publicly-available websire is about five and a half months. Not a problem when its a fair and honest journalist, but ...
it could be a BIG problem as it concerns the MSM. Just saying ...
Okay, so today all I got was a form letter from DOJ OIG. Some day when I need wallpaper...
The State Department has blown me off on this Foia request (in a very unprofessional and dishonest way imho). Apparently the New York Times, and ONLY the New York Times, will get to decide which of these important PUBLIC documents YOU get to see before Election Day.
THESE documents! I put in a foia request in December to get whatever the Times gets and was given the oral runaround for months, despite multilateral requests for a written response.
Rosemont Seneca documents, for example. Do you trust the NYT to decide what’s fit to print? TheY ALREADY HAVE the document production. But WE don’t!
Look at this ridiculous response I get! I respond, they ignore. “Check the website. File a foia request.” Translation: “Wait until the Times slams Trump with an October Surprise while sitting on anything that hurts Biden.“
