#AESS2020 Hello! Excited to be attending & presenting at @AESSnews virtual conference. Thought I’d thread some takeaways for anyone interested, and for anyone who actually watched my talk (Bueller?!), please take literally a few seconds to fill out Q1 > http://forms.gle/tvXpPKgsbAQLUUrs6
#AESS2020 First things first, my obligatory opening slide for any talk about #socialmarketing ( #socmar).
#AESS2020 Here’s a link to the global definition of social marketing by @isma_org, and a graphic of its core concepts #socmar
https://www.i-socialmarketing.org/assets/social_marketing_definition.pdf
#AESS2020 I asked #socmar Twitter for gifs to depict how we react to the constant "social media" confusion; this one is spot on: https://twitter.com/PhillSherring/status/1282570366146064384?s=20
#AESS2020 As a discipline going on nearly 50 years, #socmar got its start in public health, then expanded to many other areas. You can visit @isma_org to check out a lot of great #COVID19 resources, including webinars that are free for all to view
https://isocialmarketing.org/covid-19/
#AESS2020 For those interested in #socmar in the environment & natural resources conservation domains, I always point people to this book by @dougcbsm @nancyrlee @kotl & Wesley Schultz; many inspirational case studies you can check out!
#AESS2020 As evidence of #socmar’s increasing popularity among those of us in #conservation, there’s now a whole subdiscipline of conservation biology, #consmark ( @SCBConsMark), recognized as part of the conservation social sciences #consocsci
#AESS2020 As you can see here, in terms of publications in @SMQJournal, #socmar efforts focused on #environment, #sustainability & #biodiversity conservation still have a ways to go to catch up to other areas like public health.
#AESS2020 In terms of graduate research, only 6.8% of #socialmarketing theses up to 2015 were through Environmental Sciences & Studies programs; only 5 dissertations completed (through 2013) in environmental #socmar topics.
#AESS2020 I'm looking for instances of #socmar being taught globally, in formal education settings (academic courses & parts of courses) and informal settings (workshops). For those teaching #socialmarketing in any capacity, please fill out this survey:

#AESS2020 Anyone in ESS departments in a decision-maker role regarding curriculum or accreditation, I’d love to speak with you about your perceptions of social marketing and how programming is established at your institution. Interested? >> http://forms.gle/tvXpPKgsbAQLUUrs6
#AESS2020 Anyone who stuck with this thread (thanks!!) and is interested in #socialmarketing, @nedra maintains a great Twitter list of #socmar academics & practitioners you can follow:
