Why Uryu’s ending in Bleach was a perfect way to end his character - a thread
At the start of the series we meet Uryu, who carries himself with pride and who has a rather distaste for Soul Reapers. After getting involved with Ichigo and heading to the soul society during his fight with Mayuri we get the first major glimpse of his past
During that glimpse we’re introduced to Ryuken who, in Uryu’s eyes, Shatters most of his dreams of becoming a Quincy to help people. Later on in the series there is also this sequence of Uryu discovering Ryuken dissecting his own wife. This would have scarred Uryu for life
And explains why Uryu is rightfully distant to his own father when he’s actually introduced outside of flashbacks during the arrancar saga. However, this would have also pushed Uryu away from the potential career as a doctor.
It’s not until we see Ryuken again in TYBW that things between the two get sorted as Ryuken provides Uryu the way to destroy Ywach. With a silver arrow made from a silver blood clot from Uryu’s mother. It’s at this point that Uryu realises everything that Ryuken did for Uryu
Even if harsh at times was to either, A) protect Uryu from Yhwach at all costs or B) to try and find a way to kill Yhwach for good. After this realisation it’s Uryu who realises he’s made a mistake in not trusting his father. And so to honour his father and bring his entire
Character full circle. Uryu chose to become a well renowned doctor just like his own father making it the perfect ending for his character
