#ItsOkayToNotBeOkay
[ANALYSIS]

KangTae can be seen carrying his backpack on most episodes. Specially on the earlier ones. Backpack here is allegorical to the responsibilities he shoulders & the unfulfilled matters of the past he's been carrying in the present +
On EP 3, onset of MoonYoung's provocations, You can observe he is clutching the strap of his bag tightly. Implying how MY's arrival challenges the grasp he has with his responsibilities. +
On the same week in EP. 4 when he allowed himself to have 'fun' and lifts in Moon Young's car. He didn't bring his backpack. This suggests that whenever he's with MY, he momentarily lose sight of those responsibilities. +
On the same episode tho, (EP 4 still one of my faves. Damn many things happened on that ep alone) The backpack is present again, this time, when he called her an empty can. KT is obviously still being held back by his 'responsibilities.' Carrying his backpack, he walked out. +
Now, moving forward to EP. 5 where he rushed to search for Moon Young. On his way to her, he didn't bring anything with him. +
Whenever he is with MY he can't think before he act. He just do things, instinctively. +
Now, finally, on EP. 8 we saw how he just tossed the backpack that has been tying him down aside. And how the camera purposefully zoomed in on it. If the symbol for MY's leash was her long hair, then for KT it was his backpack. By letting it go he has set himself free.
BONUS (!)

Here we have Moon Young, being the mercurial Queen that she is, can be observed forcibly pulling Kang Tae's backpack away. She would gladly get rid of it for him.

(my bad, I don't have clear pics, just try and squint your eyes)
