Why can't the Trump administration provide resources so children can return safely to school?

In addition to the reason I offered earlier (it goes against the GOP philosophy of government) providing safety resources undermines the "all is fine / live with it" narrative.

2/ Trump has the crazy (and I mean crazy) idea that if people just normalize the virus, go on with their lives, let it "wash over" the population, lots of people will die but the economy will be strong and he'll be reelected. https://twitter.com/markberman/status/1280125225271734277
3/ Taking appropriate steps undermines the "this is all normal folks! Dying is part of life! Live with it" narrative.

As Pelosi said, this isn't a matter of balancing equities.

There is no balance against a child's life. https://twitter.com/TeamPelosi/status/1282740473459810306
4/ Yes, we all know children get the virus, and can bring it home.

I am appalled to see tweets beginning with, "Yes, children can die from the virus, but . . ."

(Don't worry. None of my followers. You're all too humane for such a sentence.) https://twitter.com/MommyFourBoys/status/1281746162794586113
There's no harm in keeping schools closed until it's safe to open them. Kids really won't mind starting later.

Starting on time under the circumstances makes about as much sense as: "A fire is burning in the auditorium, but kids need to be in school!" https://twitter.com/AlexaJaar1013/status/1282782002807050241
I have a high schooler, so if I Tweet about schools a lot, it's because it's personal.

My son, however, does not view doing high school at home in a bathrobe as a hardship. He can study independently, so that's easier for us.
I realize I'm lucky. Had my son been in third grade during this time it would have been a lot harder.

My heart goes out to the parents who will be struggling through this.

The US has the resources to get schools safely through this, but, well, GOP. https://twitter.com/sachigracen/status/1282824982108798977
