This is a weekly reminder to read "The Open Veins of Latin America" if you're from: USA, England, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands and other european countries as well.

Please read this book and understand the role your countries had and STILL have on South America

And by role I mean: explotation, genocide, slaughter, destruction, and many many other aspects.

I don't blame anyone for the crimes committed on the past, but I sure hold you accountable if you choose to turn your eyes away and pretend your history isnt tainted with blood.

You don't have to read this book rn if you don't want to, you don't have to read and learn everything in a single day, hell, not even in a single year. There is too much to unpack.

But be aware of South America, be aware of us and be aware of what happens here.

If it sounds like I am being petty, well, I am sorry, but I am just angry. Everytime I stop to read smth abt my country's history, I get angry. I get sad. I get frustrated.

And you know what makes me angrier? Knowing damn well none of these countries give a SHIT abt us.

In Brazil I learn all abt yall countries histories. Bc this fucking world revolves all around yall and I have to learn abt your history even before even learning my own.
And thats okay! I love history, I love learning, I WANT to always keep learning.

What it is maddening is studying and studying and just more and more realizing none of the countries who DEEPLY affected my country's history take a FUCKING MINUTE to learn abt us.
So, yeah, I am ANGRY!
I have always been angry at this!!

So, yeah, this kind of "reminder" just became a whole ass vent and I am sorry if this affects me so much!!!

I dont know where this thread is heading to anymore but, again, I dont blame anyone rn for what happenned back then. I blame the ones who are in power and do NOTHING to hold themselves accountable for the explotation they still do from my land.

I blame all yall governments as much as I blame mine too.
And I only wish yall could learn more abt us and join me on wishing, hoping for a better place.

We cant go forward if we dont study what happenned in the past.
We cant learn from past mistakes if we dont aknowledge them.

I guess this whole thread IS a vent but is also just me asking that, please, dont ignore Latin America. Please don't ignore us.
Read abt our history, read abt YOUR history.

We can start making things right, but we have to do our part.
Study. Research. Be aware.
