had a lengthy exchange w/ chomsky on "the letter" which I'm not going to post but basically he stands by it purely based on its content, reaffirmed his belief that suppression of speech primarily comes from corporations and the right-wing and liberal media and political classes
and agreed that the smear campaign against corbyn was the most recent example of this kind of suppression on a mass scale. his argument is simple: if hypocrites signed the letter also, call them out on their hypocrisy and hold them to account as I did here https://twitter.com/zei_squirrel/status/1281071916812566534
and if bad faith actors and hypocrites are presenting the letter as being about something it is evidently not, like "cancel culture" (a term never used in it), or against "sjw wokeness" (never mentioned) or for transphobia (not in there), then again: call them out on their lies
so encouraged by that I posted a thread here of chomsky affirming his support for black lives matter, reparations and making other statements that right-wingers and reactive liberals who signed or support that letter would deride as "sjw cultural marxism" https://twitter.com/zei_squirrel/status/1282604068662386689
and chomsky's position on free speech remains the one I outlined in detail here https://twitter.com/zei_squirrel/status/1276278799894753287
