Mad Random:

I remember watching the 1999 MLB All-Star game with my pops and brother. After the first inning my pops said “I dont think this has ever been done before”

What was it? đŸ€”

*hint*
Although 1999 was a record-setting year for hitters, this did not face Pedro Martinez. Especially in the 1999 All-Star Game where he started in front of his home crowd.
To start the Mid-Summer Classic, Pedro will face 3 former League MVP’s, no pressure, right?
NONE.

First up, ‘95 NL MVP and Hall of Famer, Barry Larkin. 2-2 count... Pedro tosses a Changeup to the outside corner. Barry looks SILLY. ONE down.
Next up. ‘97 NL MVP and one of my favorites, Larry Walker. 1-2 count... Pedro tosses a 4-Seam that had Larry in HELL. TWO down.
Last up for the inning 👀, Slammin’ Sammy. Mans just hit 66 bombas the season prior but here we are. Think Pedro cares?? HERES A 96 MPH HIGH CHEESE, GOODNIGHT.
What my pops was referring to was Pedro Martinez striking out the side to open an All-Star game. Had never been done prior to that night. Witnessing baseball history with my pops and brother. What a time!
Pedro Martinez eventually struck out 5 of the 6 batters he saw, including The Big Mac.

Here he lines McGwire up and sent him to the Gulag with some more high cheese đŸ„” BYE BYE SIR
Pedro would eventually go on to win the games MVP award becoming the second player to do so in front of their home crowd.
