I will never forget my ER visit two years ago. I was in excruciating pain due to another ruptured ovarian cyst—I could barely walk. My doctor was a white male who didn’t seem to care. Throughout the entire process I advocated for myself but he continued to minimize my pain.

He didn’t give me any medication for my pain nor did he send me home with any. This man even fixed his mouth to nonchalantly say, “...It’s just blood floating in your uterus which is causing the pain. Give it a few days, and it’ll pass.” Then he sent me home.. with no medication.
