Watching Black male celebrities be silent as fuck while Talib Kweli continues with what is going on a three day long tirade against Black women is a lot to take in. Because I KNOW they see it.
@chancetherapper is busy gaslighting us about Kanye—whose rhetoric around abortion is harmful to Black women and other people who can have children—but could be using his platform to defend the Black women Talib is harassing.
This is all your “activist” and “social justice warrior” @shaunking had to contribute. Instead of holding Talib accountable for abusing a Black woman on Twitter for 2 days straight at that point, he chose to give Talib props.
@marclamonthill is also following Talib Kweli. Has he not seen his abuse of Black women on Talib’s account for three days straight?
@questlove, a musician I love and revere, is following Talib. Has he not seen Talib’s abuse of Black women for three days straight?
@common, another musician I respect and love, is also following Talib. Has he not seen the abuse of Black women on Talib’a account for the past three days?
Where is our protection??
“Protect Black women” is not some cute phrase to throw up on your profiles for engagement. It’s holding your peers and your friends accountable when they are actively harming us. It’s being an ally to Black women even when it’s uncomfortable because it’s the right thing to do.
The silence is fucking deafening. Nobody looks out for us.
