The audacity of my university which pays me below a living wage and has given me EXTRA work this summer (of which I am not funded), asking me to email my fall students with previews of the *exciting* things in my class so that they don't withdraw due to online learning..
Yall don't want me emailing those students, because there is nothing exciting about this fall and I'm not persuading students to keep attending. "Dear students, why spend a pandemic with your loved ones or prioritizing self-care when you could spend it with me?!"
"Forget the increased rates of COVID-19, the looming economy collapse, and the healthcare crisis with these memes and freewrites!" I'm not paid to market courses; I'm don't care about the university's profit. I'm a grad student.
You can't treat me as expendable and then expect me to be invested in the university's success during a time of crisis. This next semester is survival and there is nothing exciting about that. #phdchat
