Whilst working for @ThreeIreland I was the victim of incessant racism and bullying not only from customers but from senior staff, these incidents happened so frequently, on an almost daily basis I took time stamps and quotes.
These weren’t covert or hidden acts of racism, they occurred in the presence of senior staff and staff from head office who would be complicit and would stay quiet to things such as “nigger did you come here in a delivery box” “it doesn’t have to be funny it just has to be racist”
“Jesse loves Christmas because he gets to be on the front of a Trocaire box”. Just a tiny amount of the things that were said to me,when I tried to bring up the topic of racism in the workplace with my manager it was quickly dismissed and I was told we would speak about it later
2 weeks after my manager said this to me I was the victim of a racist verbal attack in which customers shouted at me “fuck off you black nigger”, “I don’t care about all that black lives matter shit” and much more
All this happening as my colleagues and management stood and watched as I myself had to escort these customers out of the building as they hurled disgusting racist insults at me. My manger was informed of the incident and do you think he asked me how I was or what happened? no
he texted me not to be late for a zoom meeting about a new phone and has not addressed the issue until this day.
I’m bringing this issue up to address the complicity of big companies such as three who make absolutely no effort to combat these injustices which are occurring.
As a black person in Ireland, it shows how rampant racism still is in our society, whether it is blatant or complicit, we are sick and tired of being made feel uncomfortable in our own skin to comfort racists which @ThreeIreland is completely fine supporting
