As the pcc chief from 4 years and his struggles he was expecting that he would be most influential in choosing congress candidates for upcoming elections.
But gehlot had different ambitions

Pilot said that in front of rahul gandhi after the elections. And this is the reality every survey was showing a clear majority for congress , and all were expecting that congress will get more than 125 seats easily , bcos anti-incumbency against Vasundhara was that big
But final result were way diff than expectations
Congress got 99 seats , one seat less than majority. RLP was coalition partener of congress which got 1 seat , so that's how gov. Was formed.

Many congress candidates lost from the margin of 800-1000 votes.
Gehlot was happy because he knew that now is his chance to play his card and showing high command that he is the “ master of coalition ” +

Pilot was furious by backstabbing of gehlot n gandhi and seeing all his struggle n fight going in vain

From attacking gehlot just few after the elections pilot started his rebellion against gehlot.
From attacking his own govt on law and order issue , on every front pilot was criticising his own gov. In trying to ruin the image of gehlot.
