Gonna do a thread on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) very soon
Okay I’m back! Let’s get this party started!
Okay Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a condition that affects women hormone levels which causes women to produce more male hormones (testosterone) than female hormones (Estrogen)
This causes weight gain, irregular periods, fertility problems, hair growth in unwanted places (facial hair, chest hair, body hair) and after a while can cause diabetes and heart problems.
Did I add that some women can develop endometriosis from the irregular periods? Yeah perfect time to add that in
You can also develop cysts on your ovaries due to this syndrome as well. It’s important to check yourself and make sure you don’t have cyst on your ovaries and if you do it’s not too big because it can rupture and crush your ovaries.
According to studies, many women suffer from pcos but haven’t bin diagnosed by their doctor. It affects up to 27% of women during child bearing years.
Due to PCOS, many women face insulin resistance which means their body cannot use insulin properly. It causes women to produce more male hormones as well and this makes it very hard for a woman who suffers from PCOS to lose weight.
Women who have PCOS tend to suffer with anxiety and depression due to weight gain/weight fluctuation, hair loss/ unwanted hair.
Okay now that we have an idea about PCOS and what it can do to a woman’s body, lets talk about things that can help us out!
