Can we talk for just a little second about Project Lincoln?

This group is run by the very people who created the republican party which gave rise to Donald Trump to begin with. They are the architects of this failure.

They are the ones who have promoted and built up the Republicans who enable Trump and exonerated him in impeachment. They didn’t just create the atmosphere in which Trump came to power, they created McConnell and Graham and Collins and Tillis and Cotton.

And, most importantly, they are not renouncing right wing politics. They are still anti-choice. They are still pro massive tax cuts for businesses and billionaires. They still have a regressive politic on every issue except Donald Trump.

All of their slick anti-Trump ads really don’t mean anything. They may be backing Joe Biden for this election, but what’s going to happen in 2024? Every single one of the people involved in this project is going to be backing Ted Cruz again, or worse. Much worse.

There is absolutely no reason why anyone on the left should be giving time of day to these slick, mendacious, self righteous builders of the pile of excrement on top of which Donald Trump sits.

Do not be fooled for one minute. By putting this “reasonable“ face on their garbage politics, they are counting on people with short memories and a poor grasp of the issues to think that they are somehow willing to work “across the aisle” now. Nope.

In the long term – whereby long-term I mean next February — they are going to be doing the same thing that they have always done. The Republican version of “working across the aisle“ and “bipartisan compromise“ is them taking a step further to the right and demanding to be met.

Stop giving them ground. Stop giving them air. Stop sharing their videos and their sounders tweets. These are not people you can trust. At the end of the day they are still Republicans they still stand for everything that Republicans stand for.

And in case you needed the reminder, what Republicans stand for?

Isn’t you.

Not your interests, not your community, not your life.

They are running the oldest scam in the book.

If the enemy of your enemy wasn’t your friend before, they aren’t your friend now, they won’t be your friend in the future.

And most importantly, do not be confused. We do not share a common goal here. We have a single common goalposts, which is the removal of Trump. That does not make them allies, that does not even make them useful. We aren’t traveling to the same destination.

All they want in the long term is someone in the White House who doesn’t say the quiet parts out loud but still furthers their fascist causes.

A more polite and less brash Republican is still a Republican.
