Why this is cultural appropriation a “thread”:

For the people who don’t know. That women is Madonna she was wearing traditional Amazigh clothing to a award show in 2016. The problem there was is that those clothing have a deep story behind them. +

Spain, France and some places from the middle east colonized a lot of places in africa, including Morocco/North africa. During that time men would buy girls who were around the age of 10-15 and they would marry and rape them without their consent.+

So their mothers maim them when their daughters when they turn 9 years old. They tattooed their body, faces etc. +

These kinds of chains were/ are very important in Amazigh culture. They would wear them to show they were/ are proud to be Amazigh/ Berber and that no one could oppres them.

And she wore them to an award show like they were just clothes.

Please spread this because i don’t think a lot of people know about it because our culture isn’t that known. It hurts seeing ur culture being used like that, please share? Thankyou if you have read it this far
