SECOND THREAD! Players who we can realistically sign that will provide us a platform to build from for the foreseeable future. Likes, retweets and comments would be much appreciated. Interested to know all your thoughts 😀. Response from my first thread meant I had to do this!
DAYOT UPAMECANO! Like many, my number one choice! Has all the attributes required for a modern, ball playing CB. Physical, Commanding and possesses an excellent passing range. Impressive line breaking ability shows his capability to start attacking transitions.
Aggressive intent to win the ball quickly out of possession suits the high intensity pressing Arteta demands. His recovery pace, which we lack in abundance, allows him to restore his positioning. Is raw, will make mistakes and don't judge him solely on his performances post COVID
But at 21, playing a number of competitive games with Leipzig both domestically and in Europe, we cant let this one get away. So many key attributes that can be further refined and polished. With his contract expiring next year, astronomical money wont be needed to acquire him.
NATHAN AKE: If we go along the PL proven route, he is my choice. Another player who suits the traits of a ball playing CB. Reads the game well, left footed and a progressive player. The lack of structure and balance out of possession, with no protection to the backline is the...
... reason as to why they leak goals frequently, not from his ability. Aerially is an aspect which worries me but has experience both domestically and at international level. With Bournemouth likely to go down, he should be available for a cut price
MALANG SARR: A no brainer imo. 21, Left footed, played many games for Nice and again comfortable in possession. He can provide cover to Tierney at LB and can compete for a CB spot, which is his best position. Move Kolasinac out, bring him on a FREE! He provides versatility.
TAPSOBA: Ive watched him closely since his move to Leverkusen in January and I rate him. Composure on the ball, good positional awareness and maybe worth a look at. I would monitor this player closely as he's got potential. Not one of my top targets, but one to look at perhaps
THOMAS PARTEY: My number one CM option we should bring in. Energy, power, physical, positional discipline and athleticism. Excellent in possession and has an exceptional passing range. Breaks the lines as well, portraying clear evidence of his versatility as a 6 or an 8. SIGN HIM
VAN DE BEEK: I know its not realistic but if the 'OPPORTUNITY ARRISES' we should be all over this. Creative and goalscoring threat, Box to box, line breaker and versatile. Can play as an 8 or 10 and would provide a whole new dimension to our midfield.
A player perfect who can drift in between the lines, and create spaces for others. His level of consistency over the last two few years is a credit to him. Rumoured to be available for 40-50 million, if he's interested and there is a chance it can happen, please get it done!
BUENDIA: I rate him. Low centre of gravity, agile and provides creativity. Majority of Norwich's attacking transitions stem from him, receiving the ball deep and driving. His work rate out of possession is underrated, covering so much ground and wins his fair share of tackles.
Versatile as well, capable of playing as a modern style 8 which suits Arteta long term 4-3-3 system. Can play as a 10 and on the wing as an inside forward. Norwich players are guilty of lacking fight this season, but he leaves everything on the pitch. South American mentality
SZOBOSZLAI: Some regard him as a generational talent. I haven't seen much of him but reading reports and learning from people who have watched him regularly suggests a very good player with exciting potential. Box to box midfielder, intelligence on the ball and impressive stats
EDOUARD: Ive watched him closely and believe he would be a brilliant replacement to Lacazette. Similar profile in terms off hold up play, provides a link between midfield and attack. Direct and good dribbling ability. His impressive goalscoring tally, shows his ruthless nature.
Working at my part time family business, I've spoke in detail with a few Celtic fans. They regard him as a future star, with such a high ceiling. A better player than the highly regarded Dembele they had previously they said. The funds Laca provides would help to bring him in
DEPAY: Maturity on the pitch has grown since he left United and is a much improved player. Holds the ball well, versatile as he can play as a CF and on the wing. He would provide us with the ability to interchange if paired with Auba and Pepe, giving us a fluid front three
Only worry is how the uncertainty over how he recovers from his long term ACL injury. But its reported that 20 million would be enough to acquire him. Wouldn't it be worth a shot? Still only 26 and has domestic, European and international experience under his belt
Realistically you can bring Sarr, Dayot, Partey, one of Buendia/Dominic and Edouard in. Sell players mentioned in my first thread and what you have is a team thats more competitive and balanced. Money generated internally will also mean not substantial investment is needed
