If we have unionist list MSPs in the Scottish Parliament, it's because people vote for them. "Gaming" the system to deprive a section of the Scottish electorate from representation is anti-democratic. 1/8

Many people were driven to support independence due to the resentment felt towards the corrupt, anti-democratic character of UK politics.

Will "gaming" the system help persuade any former No voters that the independence side has the moral high ground? No. It's underhanded. 2/8

Fundamentally, exploiting a voting system to create a Parliamentary outcome that doesn't reflect the real proportionality present across the general population doesn't put us any closer to achieving independence, because for that we still need to convince a majority of voters 3/8

Is your main goal to get a couple of unionist MSPs out of a job? Good for you. When I vote for the Scottish Parliament, I keep in mind that this is a vote for the devolved government of our country, and there's a lot more at stake than constitutional politics, like our NHS. 4/8

The regional list is meant to balance the disproportional results of a first past the post constituency system. The aim is not to separate the vote. The aim is to use both votes for the party you actually support, and the result is a more balanced outcome than Westminster's. 5/8

Also; inexperience is not seen as a bonus in your dentist, your pets' veterinarian, your hairdresser, your plumber, etc.

Why the fuck are some trying to convince me that a party of politically inexperienced individuals is good? Takes more than being pro-indy to get my vote. 6/8

I respect the Scottish Parliament too much to want game its system. If unionists want to do it, that is part of the reason why I'm not a unionist. The independence movement is supposed to show a better way. We don't fear democracy. We use it to persuade, not to play games. 7/8

I'm sure some people will endeavour to miss the point of this thread, so just a reminder that I really don't give much of a fuck if you reply with unfiltered mince.

Your votes are yours to use as you see fit. Do whatever the fuck you want with them. Both of mine are SNP. 8/8
