Dear @GoFundMeUK , I reported the 'DefundtheBBC' campaign on your site last week, due to the endless lies on their page. Your rules state "Posting misleading statements in the campaign description" is "expressly forbidden fraudulent activity". So why is the campaign still up?
The page claims "The BBC have made the licence fee rules deliberately unclear, in order to keep people coughing up.' This is utter nonsense. Here is a page from the TV licensing website that makes the rules absolutely clear: https://bit.ly/3fhlWSG
They falsely claim the "system for catching and prosecuting non-licence fee payment is discriminatory." A review carried out with the UK government DCMS found “There is no evidence of any discriminatory enforcement practices on the part of TV Licensing”. https://bit.ly/3iUWmVL
The page claims they need donations to keep the issue of the licence fee alive due to a "media blackout". Here's a link to a google news search of the term "BBC licence fee"which makes it utterly clear the notion of a media blackout is beyond risible. https://bit.ly/38LGVuw
This appalling, divisive dishonesty has raised over £25k. Will you act now or do I need to complain to the Financial Conduct Authority? Do you really want your platform to become a vehicle for contentious political campaigns that heavily rely on fake news?
Still no reply to this thread @GoFundMeUK? Are we to take it then that campaigns are allowed to have demonstrable lies on their page in order to get money out of people under false pretences?
