artists whining that they dont get enough followers/engagement is literally the most entitled shit ever... no one owes you anything, get over yourself??
im literally going to die if i see one more person being weirdly entitled to attention, i beg you please go outside and reevaluate yourself if youre genuinely putting all your self worth on fake internet points
People pointing out my follower count like I wasn't 'under 10k' for several years, and even then anything over double digits is a LOT for me. I don't think anyone owes me time to look at my content so I'm just grateful when they do. Does having no exposure suck? Definitely
The algorithm is not built for artists. But there's ways of marketing yourself instead of feeling bad that you don't get as much attention as other clout artists even though you try so hard. The tag has been working out im sure, but its really odd to see people hinging their
Productivity and self esteem on Twitter dot com. I know a lot of artists doing great without the use of social media/low social media presence and its honestly about knowing how to sell yourself and make connections in the industry
As someone pointed out, my art is NOT GOOD. There are a lot of better artists than me who have wayy less followers and it makes me sad! But I know why and its because I got to this point through memes and shitposts. It was wholly just something that happened to appeal to people
And the type of content that would get retweeted because 'haha so true' and even then I did it for fun, so I'm grateful that I've hit something as high as 33k. But you know, even with a high follower count, you're not guaranteed business! My Twitter is unprofessional as fuck
And I don't have the skills to back up just hiring me no matter what so its not like I get art jobs all the time. Whereas I know a ton of 'under 10k' people who properly market themselves as artists who get their commission slots filled fast whenever they open and receive
Commercial work in the back, which they won't necessarily tweet. Either way I support the hash tag for growing artists but I don't support the mentality of feeling entitled to attention. I've seen people get mad at their followers for not 'engaging' and that ain't it.
Tldr do I think its good that artists are getting some recognition? Yes! But I don't think its good to feel entitled to attention, it can breed a bad mindset for both the artist and anyone who supports them
