A thread on Haikyu!! 401, the chapter where new promises are made, and old promises fulfilled.

401 is about a promise from a grandfather to his grandson, that as long as he persists, even at his loneliest moments, as long as he doesn't stop, never stops, someone will come and be by his side;

a promise between the greatest friends, rivals, allies, soulmates, that one will give chase, and the other will be waiting;

a promise to herself, inspired by her junior, to embrace proudly everything that's hers, her youth, her scars, her memories;

a promise to the world at large, to continue the legacy that's passed down from generations to generations connected by a shared passion;

a promise to mend broken bridges, that even though we might have missed our chances to truly be friends, be teammates when we were young, the chances are still there, lifelong;

a promise on behalf of those who may have been dealt less lucky cards in life, but will always work tirelessly and take the world by storm;

and a promise made of young dreams realised, to stand on the world stage, side by side.

But above all,

401 is a promise from the author to their readers that the end is never really the end, but a new beginning, fresh and exciting, and all we must do is keep doing our best.
