not really happy with the article going around crowing "haha, passport privileged Americans finally got what they deserved" when it comes to all the coronavirus travel bans

To me, these bans seem to be hurting non-citizens the most
the bans aren't based on passports, they're based on your country of residence or the countries you have visited

guess who has the most pressing reasons to travel during a pandemic: immigrants and visitors
I know folks who are stuck here with family because they were visiting and now it's hard to go back due to all the restrictions and a lack of direct flights
I know folks with struggling families elsewhere who cannot go there to help
sure, this ban is preventing asshole rich Americans from going on foreign vacations during a pandemic, but it's harming a lot of people too, many of whom never had that passport privilege
I'm not even saying the bans are unwarranted! It's just ... don't sound so triumphant about them?
Passport inequity is bad. This is not the plinth on which to crow victory on it.
