1. School reopens in full, with social distancing, masks, temperature checks, etc.
2. Five teachers/staff get COVID-19.
3. The rest of the teachers/staff revolt.
4. School no longer open, as there aren't enough teachers/staff to operate.

Figure it'll take about three weeks.
This is a likely prediction for what will happen, and I haven't seen any of the "schools must reopen" people explain how to avoid it.
It's not just a matter of having the will to reopen. You have to have the teachers and staff to *stay* open.

Maybe there are some places in the U.S. where community spread is low enough that it would work. But it doesn't seem like there are very many.
It's both. Of course parents are worried about their kids falling behind. Many (most?) students already have because of the spring shut-downs.
