I always draw at 600dpi, and people have expressed some surprise. Is 600dpi unusual?
My thinking is that you can always increase your brush size, but you need to make enough room to go smaller because you really can only go so small. And that matters to me when my linework can get real fine.
I’ve got a lot of responses, and an overview seems to be -

- Standard professional print-quality is at least 600dpi, 1200dpi for linework if a publisher really wants the crispest possible line fidelity.

- 300dpi is adequate for general purpose printing.

- Be consistent.
People work differently depending on what they’re making and for whom they’re making the work, but if your work is being published or reproduced in any physical media, a good safe bet is typically 600dpi.
