Typical “hurr Albo is weak/disappointing coz he doesn’t shout at dem, demand da opposition implement Labor policies, demand Liberal MPs resign and come up with all dese policies rite now” tripe here

Few thoughts on that https://twitter.com/JimPike50014283/status/1281833820203831296
He has no passion, he doesn’t shout at dem.

The election is 2 years away, if he goes all out at them now, the public will get sick of it and lose interest.

And if he uses his ‘attack lines’ now, they’ll become blunt and ineffectual come the next election.
Save your energy for when the time is right. For when the public are most engaged.
He hasn’t forced the PM and other Liberal MPs to resign.

Seriously, when the fuck have MPs, and indeed the PM resigned because the opposition told them to? If he kept demanding it he’d look like a bloody idiot.
Choose your battles carefully, fight only when you can win. No LOTO can win that fight, so why bother?
He hasn’t got them to raise Newstart and implement other Labor policies.

Seriously, what kind of mind bogglingly asinine argument is this? When do governments implement the opposition’s policies because the opposition tells them to?
He’s changing Labor’s policies

Yes, like literally every major party does when they lose multiple elections in a row, that’s just how it works, welcome to the world outside student politics.
Second, ya knob, Labor leader doesn’t decide policy alone. Policy gets debated, voted on and decided at the National Conference. Which the party has a say on, including the membership.
And third, again, the election is about 2 years away, why do we expect Labor to have all these comprehensive policies right now? They’re not the government.

If they release all their policies now, the Libs and the media will destroy them death of a thousand cuts style.
He won’t shut down coal and go 100% renewable energy.

Coz dickhead, if he said such things, the mining lobby and the media would launch a monumental advertising campaign against him, as they did against Rudd and Gillard....
Labor would lose an arse load of votes, and seats, in the mining states, and Labor would squander any chance of winning in 2022.

Part of being a successful politician involves being able to navigate the political climate.
Don’t know about you, but saying something that would expose you to a massive advertising campaign by the biggest pillar of corporate power, doesn’t seem a very smart move to me....
I assume that you, much like me, want to see Labor win the next election in 2022.

However to win requires a long term strategy, especially against a party that’s all but protected by the mining industry, the media and the banks.
And sure, I get it, it’s much more satisfying to shout at the Libs and demand something, but it’s far more useful to chip away at the government and slowly rebuild yourself as a viable alternative.
It is better to defeat your opponents with a scalpel than a club.
I like Albanese. He’s repeatedly proven his worth throughout his political career, he’s demonstrated that he knows how and when to be pragmatic, and how and when to attack forcefully. And when the time is right, I have no doubt that he will excel.
So whilst Labor are playing a long term strategic game to get out of opposition and into government, how about y’all play an equally helpful yet far simpler game called “stop yer bitching”. Look it’s really not that difficult.
Will say, on the plus side, at least we no longer have people saying “da ALP needs to get someone like Jeremy Corbyn or Bernie Sanders”. Thank fuck those people have fucked off.
Finally, like many people, I too was disheartened that Labor lost in 2019, and that our policies were rejected. However at the end of the day, what’s happened has happened. And since none of us are mad scientists with Daloreans, we can’t change the past.
What’s important is to look towards the next election, rather than wishing we could have our time again and redo the 2019 election. The Labor party have already moved on, I very strongly suggest you do the same.
