Of course the themed identity theology you mention (liberation, local, ‘practice based’ black, feminist, queer, trans, disability etc etc) is tiresome careerist and naturally elitist bollocks. But no one serious takes it seriously. Or if they do that is utterly tragic.
By which of course I do not mean that one cannot have serious theological treatments of politics, class, place, race, gender, sexuality, disability etc. Of course one can and of course these should be undertaken. But as part of theology as such, unqualified.
It’s also true that the swallowing of theology by RS is a big problem and that the institutional structures are not helping the rich individual talent and widespread interest. We need a rethink along global great books lines earlier suggested.
