The inability to tolerate different, even relatively “bad” ideas, is the cowardice of our day.

It’s a desire for conformity masked beneath morality.
Believing one should be extrajudicially punished for holding “wrong” beliefs betrays a willingness to sacrifice freedom for conformity.

If you can’t allow for degrees of wrong, you can never have right, only “allowed.”
Cancel culture is rooted in contempt for humanity.

Only if you believe people are empty, unthinking vessels would you fear that freely exchanging even “bad” ideas is dangerous.
Every dictatorship limits the exchange of ideas & open discourse because every dictatorship is built upon the idea that people are replaceable, shapeless forms only valuable when controlled.
Treat people with enough dignity to believe they are just as capable as you of choosing right from wrong without the threat of punishment.
Cancel culture is like the overbearing parent who refuses to let their child make mistakes & learn for himself.

Instead that child puts on an act to appease the parent & doubles down on whatever is banned when out of sight.

Both sides lose.
The desire to punish others stems from the arrogant belief you would never make the same mistake.

Maybe you won’t, but you will make a different mistake. Don’t bet on receiving the same grace you denied others.
Humans have struggled for eternity to manage the impulse to punish others for “dangerous” deviations; even the bible warned against casting the first stone.

Today we must decide whether we remain beholden to out history or step into a new era.
