Imagine you're in a hall full of people. The lights go off and you hear some weird noises from the other end.

Eventually someone says "Um, I think there's somethi-."

The voice is cut off suddenly.

1/
Cell phone lights start to come out. There's tons of movement. Whispers in the crowd build as a sharp cry confirms the threat:

"VAMPIRES!"

2/
Several brave individuals band together. There is much bloodshed, but they manage to hold a perimeter.

Then a partition comes down. You can't see or hear anything from the other side.

Once in a while someone shouts that they're all fine, but that's about it.

3/
More commotion from the darkness, now from the center. Screams come from all around.

People band together, this time there's more communication.

"How can we tell who the vampires are?"

"Take pictures with your phone, they'll be missing.'

4/
Groups form and the flashes begin to go off. Their fears are confirmed, they're everywhere.

It's impossible pin the enemy down amid the panic. People begin shouting:

"STAY STILL!"

"Stop moving! We need to figure out where they are."

5/
Many listen at first. People form safe clusters. You see a few perimeters manage to hold up.

There's still screams in the darkness, but the groups are moving fast.

Some people look for chargers to plug their phones in.

Some care for their loved ones.

Some grieve.

6/
People with lots of battery move to the perimeters. They hold the line and keep taking pictures but it's not enough.

"Hey, if you all plug your phones in we can do this faster."

Some plug in, some don't. Everyone says, "You are really holding down the fort. Fucking heros."

7/
As your perimeter holds, the screams continue. You're getting more people in, but it still doesn't feel like enough.

The vampires continue to feed in the shadows. All the cell phone batteries are getting low now.

"Plug your phones in! Please, help us!"

8/
One person plugs in, the rest give a thumbs up.

"Without you we'd be fucked. You guys are essential."

Voices in the shadows beg for help. Crying in pain before they're suddenly cut short.

"Can we leave the perimeter yet?"

9/
Your frustration grows, but you continue to hold the perimeter.

A movement grows within. They want to take their chances with the vampires.

Some are selling holy water and garlic. Hasn't proven to do much so far.

10/
Experts are trying to melt down silver jewellery using lighters. It's slow, but there's hope someone can craft an effective weapon.

The front lines are low on phones, protection, and stamina.

11/
Some begin leaving the perimeter without permission. Everyone is exhausted. There's still not enough phones. People all around you are giving up or dying.

Everyone is hungry, scared, and they feel abandoned.

The screams persist, coming in waves from different directions.

12/
It's decided. The perimeter will be eased, but slowly. Be smart, look for supplies, come back.

They find a charger or two, but some don't come back. Others say "fuck the perimeter" and go back into the darkness.

People keep debating. They're growing numb to the screams.

13/
Anger is growing. There's resentment all around.

The perimeter expected backup. Those left in the darkness remain ignored. Their screams continue.

That's where we are today.

14/
There's no silver weapons, no cell phones, and debates over armor.

No plan to get chargers, and everyone is talking about ways to loosen the perimeter.

We're all in the dark, the vampires are still out there, our plans are foolish, but we're rolling with it anyway.

Why?
