STANDING ROCK 365: #NODAPL365

Day 2:
During the #NODAPL movement, tens of thousands of people, including over 300 federally recognized tribes traveled to North Dakota to protect the water.

#NODAPL365 Day 3:

To raise awareness in the early days of #NODAPL, Indigenous youth ran from Standing Rock, ND to Omaha, NE to ask the ACoE to hault the pipeline. Essentially ignored, the runners regrouped and ran all the way to DC to ask President Obama. Over 2000 miles.
#NODAPL365 - Day 4:

In Nov of 2016, over 500 clergy from all different faiths traveled to Standing Rock to show solidarity with the #NODAPL movement. A copy of the “Doctrine of Discovery” which was burned in Oceti Sakowin camp by religious leaders.
#NODAPL365: Day 6
#NODAPL365 Day 7:

During the height of the movement, hundreds of new people would arrive daily and begin taking NVDA (non-violent direct action) training to understand what was and was not acceptable on the frontlines. In this photo hundreds of new arrivals begin training.

Dennis Banks - (1937-2017)

Dennis Banks (Anishinabe) was a Native American activist, teacher, and author. He was a longtime leader of the American Indian Movement, which he co-founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1968.

#NODAPL365 DAY 10:

76 law enforcement agencies from 10 states: North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wyoming, Indiana & Montana came to Standing Rock to counter peaceful protest. The movement was a testing ground for protest suppression.
