As we ease into another weekend (and almost 4 months of social distancing!), it can feel like we’re running out of ways to engage & keep the interest of the little ones. It easier to let them watch tv or play on iPads, but maybe it’s time we encourage the fun of the good ol days.
Here are a few suggestions to have fun with the young ones this weekend:⁣

• Have a reading marathon: Using 2-4 books from an age appropriate series ( #SupportYourLocalLibrary!) Consider prizes as a way to have fun and incentivize!⁣

• Write stories together⁣
• Play soccer or kickball⁣

• Paint or draw together: many websites often have free printables if you don’t have books already. For example, check out http://nickolodeanparents.com

• Create a fort in your living room out of blankets or cardboard boxes and have a sleepover⁣
⁣• Go on a hike or bike ride. See if you can name any flowers, birds, or animals you see along the way.⁣

• Have a sunset picnic at a park or beach. For the more daring, trying lacking a breakfast and do a sunrise breakfast picnic.⁣

• Play board games⁣
• Host an in-home scavenger hunt or a great game of hide-and-seek⁣

• Bake cookies or make homemade pizza⁣

• Make tie-dye shirts, socks, or shorts.⁣

• Make a scrapbook⁣

• Fingerpaint⁣

• Write letters for family members
