A fan favorite, to say the least, Denzel Mims (WR, 5) is an extraordinary pass catcher from a physical and athletic standpoint. What he especially excels in is his ability to maintain body control and his highly-touted ball skills as shown in this clip #Jets
Good use of hesitation steps for Mims on this route to give him space on against sideline. Great awareness to keep not one, but both feet in. Good stuff #Jets
For a team as desperate for flashy offensive players as the #Jets, Mims fills that role and more. Runs a very smooth vertical route, which combined with his speed creates separation. Perfectly thrown ball allows Mims to snatch it with ease and get the TD #Jets
A slightly underthrown ball doesn't give Mims much room to go up for the ball, especially with the trailing DB. Nice play by #26 #Jets
Mims has a sharp enough route (with leverage) here to create separation on the slant. He locates the ball and snatches it with his great ball skills and runs it in for the easy TD #Jets
Mim's shows his RAC ability, in which he breaks a couple tackles for a larger gain. He's been pretty elusive to tackle throughout his entire career at Baylor #Jets
Just look at this route by Mims on the right side. While his route tree needs improving in the NFL, he did show some nasty potential in 2019. Locates the ball and gets his feet in-bound with ease
Mims is able to hold on to the low throw despite a big hit from the defender. A tough player to say the least #Jets
Uses his leverage to separate from his defender and displays great hands once again to get the reception. Just too easy for Mims #Jets
Not the greatest route from Mims but gets enough separation to give his QB space to throw. Another beautiful catch near the sideline #Jets
Mims rounds out a tad at the LOS to beat the press, which doesn't give his QB much of a chance to put the ball in a clean spot. This was my largest criticism of Mims, but this was a hit or miss thing for him. Sometimes he was very physical against press, others not as much #Jets
Mims finds the soft spot in between the zones and hangs onto the low throw by the QB. Really like his body control and hands on this catch, something the #Jets could really use in 2020
Just a beautiful route from Mims as he shows off his explosive speed and acceleration. Locates the ball and snatches it from the air with such ease. His extension makes him such a good WR #Jets
One of the few balls you will see Mims not catching in this film thread but I thought it was worth showing. A lower throw would have been more ideal here but just one of those plays. Good work by the DB #Jets
Nice route to the outside by Mims, again using his leverage to create separation. Just a missed throw by Brewer. Darnold makes this throw 10/10 times #Jets
Another overthrow by Brewer here but it's worth mentioning Mim's leaping ability. One of the many features of his game that makes him such a dangerous deep threat. Love this guy #Jets
One of the clips that always makes the highlight reel. Just absurd body control and ball skills from Mims on this catch. An instant red zone threat on the #Jets in 2020
Terrible ball placement by Brewer, but Mims prevents the easy pick for the defender. Almost reels in the ball too #Jets
Just a beautiful display of the overall nastiness in Mim's game. Gets double-teamed but still finds a way to beat the first defender with hesitation steps and the second to the outside edge of the endzone. A beautiful ball by Brewer as well @LukeGrant7 #Jets
Another overthrown ball by the QB here but just extraordinary leaping ability from Mims. Throughout the first couple games I watched, Mims has done a great job of either coming back on his routes or establishing a window to throw at. Would be something new out of #Jets WRs
Probably one of Brewer's worst games of the season. Mims easily beats his man with a post, but is overthrown yet again. Absolutely beautiful use of explosive speed on Mim's end, but just needs a competent throw. Darnold can fix that #Jets
Another example of Mim's toughness and his desire to simply not go down. Displays great hands once again as he manages to hold on to the ball #Jets
Mims opens up another window for his QB to target, but the ball is misplaced and Mims takes a nasty shot. If the throw was to the correct shoulder, this wouldn't have happened. Hate to see this on film #Jets
That's it for Part 1 guys! We covered weeks 2-4 and I'm excited to do this again when Mims is on the schedule. Just a phenomenal player to watch on film with an extraordinary catch radius! Part 2 coming soon #Jets @JetsOpinion @JCaporoso
Part 2! Just another great example of Mim's extraordinary hands #Jets
Good coverage by the DB gives Mims no chance at the ball. Would have preferred a throw more to the outside, but good coverage nonetheless #Jets
Ball is placed out of bounds, but just a great example of Mim's athleticism and leaping ability. Spectacular extension #Jets
Very next play, Baylor tries the same thing. Same result, but this time in bounds. Phenomenal body control near the sideline #Jets
Completely adjusts his body to snatch the back shoulder. Locates the ball with ease due to a strong focus. He makes these catches on a consistent basis #Jets
Spectacular catch after spectacular catch. Timing with QB is perfect which allows him to land his feet in bounds with ease #Jets
Mims is caught pushing off and gets the OPI. Pretty easy call #Jets
On the RPO I tweeted out earlier, Mims displays great hand strength as he holds on to the ball despite the defenders best efforts #Jets
Smooth route by Mims which gives the QB an easy window to target. Even though he leaps to make the catch, he holds on to ball despite the hit #Jets
Fake screen to the right, but doesn't see a wide open Mims down the field. Without hesitation from the QB, this is an easy TD. Mims blows by his defender with explosive speed and jab steps #Jets
Mims tries to get physical off the line but good coverage by the DB prevents any big play. Bats the ball away #Jets
Just an otherworldly catch from Mims here. Completely redirects his body to the ball while keeping his feet in. Just amazing #Jets
Mims successfully boxes out his man to set up himself for the easy TD, but just drops it. A complete fundamental error on his part. These occurrences are very far and few in between for Mims #Jets
Very next play and Mims is interfered with on a very similar play call. This is actually smart as it doesn't give Baylor enough time to go for another play and are forced to go for the field goal to tie the game #Jets
In OT, Mims displays that he has the elusiveness and mobility skills to move deeper down the field, which almost results in a TD. Does a nice job of properly reading blocks consistently #Jets
Another good showcase of Mim's hand strength as he holds on to the ball. Important trait for a WR to have #Jets
Mims displays his explosive speed after the catch, but is caught up with and ends up fumbling. A rare occurrence but no excuse #Jets
QB throws into a nice window for Mims in which he does a great job of holding onto, even with multiple defenders trying to pull the ball out. Good bounce back #Jets
Mims bobbles the ball after contact and lets it drop to the ground. Near pick #Jets
Another beautiful catch along the sideline for Mims, who again shows off his impressive catch radius. Great job at keeping both feet in #Jets
And that's it for Part 2! We will probably do 1-2 more parts to finish off Mim's 2019 season. One of the most exciting #Jets prospect in years. Excited for next time!
Mims is physical enough with the DB to maintain a consistent distance from the sideline, but Brewer forces a back shoulder throw, in which comes off a little high which Mims isn't able to hold on to. Gets enough separation at the end, but just drops this one #Jets
Like the low throw from the QB. Mims is agile enough to go down for the catch, and cradles the ball away from the ground. With the low throw, Mims doesn't take a big hit from the incoming defender #Jets
Mims gets physical at the LOS with the DB, hands on pads until the endzone, where Denzel attempts to box out his man. The DB makes a nice play on the ball and knocks it away. I get Brewer trusts Mims, but there wasn't much separation to begin with, why throw this? #Jets
A messy game from the entire Baylor offense, wasn't a lot worth showing... would have preferred Mims to run a sharper route to the outside, giving him and the QB more space to work with. Another dropped ball #Jets
Mims consistently gives an extra effort to come back to the ball, giving his QB a window to target him. Much sharper running, as he keeps his pads lower than the DB's. Takes advantage of his leverage and displays great hands #Jets
Another fantastic grab from Mims. Reads his DB's stance and counters any swipe to slow him down. Brewer puts it in a spot where only Mims can get it, in which he shows off his elite catch radius. Prepare for these highlight-worthy plays, #Jets fans
Same route for Mims but this time he works inside first, reading the DB's stance. Extends his arms just enough to reel in the ball and trots in for the easy TD. When you correctly read your DB's intentions, you give your QB so much more room to work with #Jets
Despite a messy game of all sorts, this catch makes up for it. Mims fades to the back corner of the endzone despite the DB's best efforts to reel in a perfectly placed ball. With the DB's back to the QB, Brewer puts it high up to where his star WR can only catch it #Jets
On the 2PT conversion the very next play, Mims works his way to the middle of the endzone, where Brewer (pressured) chucks it up for grabs. Mims has a good shot at it, but can't hold on. Despite the drop, Mims consistently shows his freakish athleticism and agility on film #Jets
Both DBs go for the fake screen which Mims absolutely wide open down the field. Brewer severely underthrows the pass which Mims can't get to. Opportunity missed #Jets
Off the snap, Mims keeps his hands and feet active to beat the press and get separation for his QB. Low throw, but in a location ONLY Mims can get it. Mims recognizes this and contorts his body to make the grab #Jets
Off the snap, Mims works outside in which he punches his left arm into the DB's shoulder pad, knowing the DB's weight is shifted in the middle. From there, he keeps swiping the DB's arm off him, multiple times, until he creates enough separation. Good throw, easy TD #Jets
Mims physicality really shows here. Not afraid to bully his defender, which gives him leverage and space to the outside. With a good throw, this is easy work for Mims once again #Jets
Mims has a great burst of speed off the LOS, in which the DB gives him ample space. The second the DB shifts his hips to the inside, Mims cuts outside for the ball. Not the sharpest route, but job done. Good throw, good execution #Jets
Mims works outside on the vert but then works his way back inside by swiping the defenders arm off him, multiple times. With this, and Mims meteoric one-direction speed, the DB grabs onto him to prevent a big gain. Easy PI call #Jets
Mim attempts the stop & go, chops his feet 5 yards in, and pushes towards the outside as he's essentially doubled. Not much space to work with, but the DB bites enough to where Mims has a shot near the sideline. Throw was just out of his grabs #Jets
Given space at the LOS, Mims runs a quick-hit route that lets him show off his ability after the catch. Makes first defender miss off the catch, jukes out of the second by cutting inside, and puts his team in a great position to drive down the field late in the game #Jets
