A thread on onduct of ssb exams starting from july at various ssb centres:
1. I was informed about the ssb dates on 3rd of july, 2020 for cds-2 2020( 26th SSCW Non-Tech). I was perplexed by the email I received which didn't even offer me the option to select dates.
The call up instructions were uploaded on 6th july and they were even more surprising.
The call up instructions mention: The students coming from states except Maharashtra will have to go for home quarantine of 14 days before they report to the ssb.
The candidates of Maharashtra will have to go for 7 days Institutionalized quarantine and 7 days home quarantine.
At first I would like state my own problem:
I come from a middle class family. My father is a retired JCO from Indian air force. I do not own a personal vehicle. If called for ssb, I will have to travel by public transportation facilities.
At first I will have to take a haryana roadways bus to reach delhi. ( The roadways department do not follow proper sanitizing procedures: This report was published by The Tribune two weeks ago). The travel will itself be a problem for me.
When no SOP is being followed properly..it's highly probable that I may get infected during the travel itself.
Reaching delhi, I will have to either board a train or fly or bengaluru before 14 days of my actual ssb date.
The expenses of home quarantine is another big concern for me. The minimum expenditure for quarantine in a hotel will amount to 30k. And there is no quarantee of safety in the hotel too. The food that I will avail will also be substandard and there shall be no guarantee of safety
The call up letter also mentions necessity of carrying a covid-negative certificate to the centre which will cost me Rs 2600-4500.
The call up instructions nowhere mentions the process to be followed in case a student gets infected during travel or if a candidate gets infected even before he leaves for ssb centre. What about the candidature of such students?
The fact that Indian medical facilities are worst hit amid this crisis, We can't rely on them and get infected. I have seen people my age in my close contacts who got infected and were breathless. They have spent thousands and lacs for the treatment.
Even if we are exempted from the quarantine policy: We may take the infection alongwith. We may infect other students. The students share toilets, bathrooms, mess chairs etc. So, it is highly possible that people may infect one another.
Even in all circumstances we reach the ssb centre safely: Imagine the level of stress every candidate would be carrying alongwith. The fear of getting rejected after risking health shall eventually affect our psychology. Especially candidates who have their last chance to qualify
I know the forces can't be short of manpower especially officers but this process will either cause burden on healthcare workers( candidates getting infected) or it will cause candidates to not attend ssb.
The pandemic is real and so are the problems. If the parliamentarians are themselves not ready to be in parliament..why are the higher authorities putting our lives and mental health at stake?
The NDA cadets were ecently made to quarantine in their rooms after one cadet was found positive even when they were all in one place didn't travel recently. How come students going from different places won't get infected and won't infect others?
I conclude my thread with a request to postpone the ssb dates until and unless the situation becomes fine or a qualified vaccine is launched.
