Gallant promotes the idea that the order in council banning the AR-15 et al was made under emergency powers, which is simply not so, and that such orders might be applied to anything

Obviously, this just isn't so. The Governor in Council could make that order only because the Criminal Code authorized it.

If there is any section of the Criminal Code empowering Cabinet to ban "carbon cottages" or lawnmowers, I confess I am ignorant of it.

At this point, I would like to suggest that in place of a firearms safety course, all Members of Parliament might instead be made to take a basic How Your Own Job Works course, but I won't suggest that because I suspect the problem may be unique to one Honourable Member.
