🚨🇬🇧🚨🛰🚆✈️🚚🚚🚨 🇪🇺🚨So. Have just launched new weekly #brexit briefing for @FT that will explore the “gristle and sinew” of how #brexit lands in the U.K. because that’s where the story is now: borders, haulage, chemicals, competition policy.../1 https://on.ft.com/2ZaRMej
Even now there is a sense that #brexit is either "done" or a political parlour game taking place in Brussels or the corridors of Westminster and Whitehall...well not for much longer.

The story is now shifting fast into ports, factories and the politics of the Union. /2
Regular followers will know that I've never advocated for stopping or blocking #Brexit - indeed, I've got in a lot of trouble with people for suggesting that attempts to block Brexit are one reason why, after four years, we've ended up with this particular version of leaving /3
But leaving we are - and the reporter's job now is to try and unpack the process of the UK's extraction from the EU's single market and customs union which, over the last 27 years, has evolved into a system of highly frictionless trade, particularly in goods. /4
So every week the Briefing will look at the progress in the talks, but also at areas of UK policy - borders, supply chains, healthcare, procurement, , state aid, immigration, the devolution settlement - that will be impacted by the de-coupling process, fast or slow as it may be/5
And yes, since you ask, we'll look at upsides, as they emerge, as well as the predicted upheaval - a lot of which will be unavoidable in the first instance, as government ministers have warned.

The aim is to root the reporting firmly in the real world /6
That's because very soon #Brexit is no longer going to be a largely abstract concept - nor, I hasten, will it be the 'sky is falling' catastrophe that I daresay some of its most implacable opponents cannot help but hope it will be. But change is coming, and that's the story /7
You can sign up here, and as I say in the opening salvo, we want you to tell us how #brexit is landing in your world - from lawyers to lorry drivers, get in touch!
