Right now the Georgia Supreme court is hearing arguments against a sperm bank called Xytex about whether the company is liable for selling sperm to multiple families who did not know their donor had serious mental health problems -thread

Wendy and Janet Norman's son from this sperm donor has severe psychological problems - he's been institutionalized for trying to commit suicide, he's destroyed things in his home and he's consistently been in psychological care since he was a young teenager.
Based on behavioral genetics, it’s likely that three or four of the 36 children fathered by this sperm donor will suffer from schizophrenia, they will be much more likely to suffer from depression and, like their sperm donor, they will be more likely to have a criminal record.
If you think screening egg and sperm donors for disability or mental health problems should be allowed and that any of these families have a legitimate grievance against the sperm bank, you are advocating eugenics
I don't know "why genomic data often fails to predict transcriptome data" but I do know that children tend to be like their parents- talent, mental health, psychological illness and personality are heritable and change the character of future generations. https://twitter.com/DialecticalA/status/1281206935782637570?s=20
You don't have to understand the genotype to understand that policy around government assistance, access to contraception, housing prices and many other aspects influence who reproduces and the characteristics of citizens. We don't consider this enough because "that's eugenics".
