It is quite terrifying, though, that we have moved from having discussions about topics to having discussions about how discussions function. And then all the lefties have big smirking grins when they know what discourse is better than the next guy.
Like, regardless of educational level (note, not intelligence etc), we can tell who is a dickhead, fascist, stomping others down. We know when our mate down the pub is voicing an uncomfortable opinion vs being a hateful bigot.
Why do I need @Harpers, @DoubleDownNews (who should still publish a counter-letter to Harpers), or anyone else telling me HOW to have a conversation.

We need to action all the stuff we've learnt about being a better society, not debate the minutiae.
The irony is, I am adding to the debate on what debates are by writing this thread.

The hurtful truth is people literally cannot tell the difference between uncomfortable and hateful.

The terrible reality is being nice doesn't defeat bigoted ideology.
