"No you didn& #39;t. Your boyfriend made that for you. Your BOYFRIEND MADE THAT FOR YOU!!"

I laughed and was like "actually no, I made it."

"Nahhh no you didn& #39;t"

My friend pipes up and goes "Yeah she did, we both built our own boats. We are BOTH boatbuilders."
Then they start yelling (at this point I& #39;m just ignoring them and paddling as fast as I can away)

"If it wasn& #39;t your boyfriend it must been your DADDY! Daddy built you that canoe, huh? Haha! It& #39;s either your boyfriend or your daddy but it sure as hell wasn& #39;t you!"
They were gone by the time we paddled back and I& #39;m thankful.

I& #39;m so fortunate that being an engineer / pilot prepared me for such worse sexism than that and at this point in my life I& #39;m able to brush shit like that off and enjoy the evening on the river.
But also. Don& #39;t do shit like that. Advocate like my friend did. Don& #39;t be an asshole. Don& #39;t raise your kids to be assholes. Thanks!!!! Enjoy your evening paddles https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🛶" title="Kanu" aria-label="Emoji: Kanu">
