White people, if you’re fond of Japanese culture or media, I get it. If you feel guilt over America abusing japanese people, ehhh... But while white people have privileged place over Japanese people, they also have a privileged place over many cultures and people they’ve harmed.

Just like England, France, and Spain, Japan has been an imperialist oppressor and aggressor for a large portion of their recent history. The Philippines, China, Korea, Ryukyu/Okinawa, and countless others were abused and oppressed for hundreds of years.

This means that just like how black people cant be racist against white people, Koreans etc can’t be racist against Japanese people. But! As white people, we still can be. Be aware that while we may criticize Japanese imperialism, we must do so ALONGSIDE white supremacy.

If you decide to exclusively criticize Japanese imperialism, even without “racist language”, while never criticizing white supremacy, you’re still being racist against Japanese people. Instead, amplify Korean, Filipino, ryukyuan, Indonesian, and other voices that japan has harmed
