how i interpret one direction’s song “walking in the wind”: a thread.

walking in the wind is the 15th track in one direction’s fifth album, made in the a.m.
lyrically, it’s about moving on from someone and missing them, but knowing they’ll meet again someday.

now we all know zayn left in 2015 and made in the a.m. is one directions final album. this leads me to believe that walking in the wind was a note to zayn and the fans.

why do i think this? here’s some key lyrics from the song.
“The fact that we can sit right here and say goodbye / Means we've already won”
“Ah ooh-ooh-ooh, we had some good times, didn’t we?”
“Goodbyes are bittersweet / But it’s not the end / I’ll see your face again.”

going back to my first tweet, this song is about moving on (from 1D to solo) from someone (zayn & us) but knowing we’ll meet again (solo tours/music). hence the key lyrics in the tweet above.

now this part is SUPER far-fetched. you’ve been warned.

have you ever tried to walk in the wind? it’s hard right? this means zayn leaving the band + them knowing made in the a.m. was their final album, was hard for them.
