I have a theory for this; for years nerd shit was considered immature but people did it anyway because it's FUN and it was their hobby to break away after getting tired of work and other things.

-wanted in for the profit and popularity, especially when they began to realize the popularity they rode in school doesn't cut it when you're an adult because school's fucking over. Get outta that shit.

But the stigma they created was already branded and they didn't want-

-to try to dismantle that and admit they were possibly, I don't know, WRONG for slamming people over a hobby they enjoyed. So instead of letting it be fun, they had to make it 'mature' and what's the fastest way to make something 'mature' but also suck the enjoyment right out?

You guessed it!

POLITICAL ISSUES!

So to make things 'mature and deep' we have people trying to cram as many 'social and political' meanings into the hobby and then making statements about 'discovering' them and how they should be credited for it.

It's why so many people attach political things onto something in order to guilt people that call them out for acting like drama whores, as well as everyone wanting to be 'first' when they're not the first of anything so they keep creating meaningless categories-

-to snatch a meaningless prize and to proclaim how they broke down a wall or something, despite being the ones who created that wall in the first place.

So in other words, those drama whores who made fun of you for liking this shit are still drama whores.
