Some of you have probably noticed that the @HoustonChron Data Team numbers are often different from the state and come out later. Why is that?

Well, the answer is because we want to provide you with the most current information on the state of the pandemic in Texas https://twitter.com/alexdstuckey/status/1281015963589148672
So, the state of Texas releases new numbers every afternoon/evening about the pandemic. But the thing with these numbers is that they're current as of the morning (and yesterday's numbers)
So, since some counties maintain local dashboards, we pull the numbers they update in the evening (the most current numbers) and add them into our spreadsheet.

It's a way to give you, the reader, a clearer picture as to the number of new cases, overall cases and deaths
Right now, we have about 5,000-plus more cases than the state of Texas does. That gives us, and you, the overall picture as to what the state of the pandemic is here. https://twitter.com/mizzousundevil/status/1281022603466018816
And it also lets us know that when the state releases the numbers tomorrow, it'll likely be another big day
We could pull the state dashboard numbers (and we do for tests and hospitalizations!) but in order to fulfill our mission to give you the most current, up-to-date numbers on the pandemic we have to wait a little longer and pull local info
