Something that always gets me about these topics we’re debating whether they should be socially shunned on a widespread scale is they have so much wiggle room and are so open to interpretation.
Race vs populations: Some people arnt up to date with genetics terminology and are assuming “race” is a grouping of populations in a genetically significant way. When they learn about populations, their reaction isn’t “oh race isn’t real” it’s “that’s what I was talking about”
“I identify as an attack helicopter”: making fun of gender minorities? Or creating a reductio ad absurdum to the concept of pure self id? Exploring limits to slippery slopes?
“Women are on average less interested in engineering”: An overconfident assertion that hasn’t been proven? Yes. Calling women inferior and trying to block them from stem? No.
So many of these positions I can understand and sympathize with, even if I think they’re wrong.

I think it’s a virtue to have tolerance and charitable readings of them. And it’s actually really helpful to talk about them and explore them with people who disagree.
