“World Building” is not “here is a bunch of locations with information on them”. World Building is about making the setting/world fleshed out and realistic. Just because a verse is “bigger” does not mean it is “deeper” or more in depth. Execution is everything.
“Realistic” does not inherently mean “just like reality”. It means the world feels REAL. As in you can see it actually existing due to how detailed it is. You can break down its existence as a world. Sometimes you don’t need a lot for that, just the right information.
Setting is crucial. If you tell me your world is set in a giant space that spans so large no one knows anything about anything, then you are setting yourself up for a “do whatever meets my needs” story. But when you give a spectrum and rules... its a different feel.
