NEW: Another #FOIA WIN at US District Court this morning (thread)

Back in February I/ @BuzzFeedNews
filed a #FOIA lawsuit for a wide-range of records related to AG Barr's intervention in the Roger Stone case.

Importantly, I sought expedited processing.

When DOJ failed to respond to our request for expedited processing, I/ @BuzzFeedNews sued. The government moved to dismiss the case saying we should have waited and in the process sought to disparage me personally in their various court filings.

This was designed, in my opinion, to delay the release of records that would and should lay bare the behind the scenes activity related to Barr's involvement in the Stone case. Because even if the judge found in favor of the govt & dismissed the case I could easily refile

And that's exactly what happened. For the past six months, DOJ has not even attempted to search for and process the records I requested related to Roger Stone and Barr's intervention in his case.

Well that all ended today.

At a hearing this afternoon, the judge ruled in my/ @BuzzFeedNews favor and hammered the govt over it's ridiculous argument and, even though I was granted expedited processing, the govt admitted it didn't even attempt to process my request.

NOW THEY HAVE TO and QUICKLY

We will come up with a processing schedule for production of docs in the days ahead. But this important & it's my opinion that this is an example of DOJ politicizing FOIA in an attempt to control the narrative over the investigation involving Roger Stone & Barr's intervention

FOIA is broken. But when it goes off the rails as it did here and we beat the shit out of the govt it feels so good.
