Giants have added LHP Caleb Baragar (26.2Y, 6'3" 215) to the 60-man pool. He was a 2016 9th round pick out of Indiana. Started 2019 in SJ, most of season in Richmond.
AA: 120IP 83H 43BB 107K 3.45 ERA. 91-94 FB with a slurvy breaking ball.
8 strikeouts in late August (Bart is C):
Per Rapsodo readings from this offseason, Baragar's FB has a spin rate in the 2600-2700 range. In 2019, only 12 MLB pitchers had an avg 4-seam FB spin rate >2,600, and only 3 of them were LHP. Spin efficiency is 98% with a spin axis very close to perfect for a LHP. FB is special.
A couple of things related to this thread:
1. My understanding of the lesser mainstream pitch metrics like spin axis, efficiency is at a novice level, so keep that in mind.
2. My ancient MacBook prevents me from recording smooth video and also I don’t know how to record sound.
