This is the gift that keeps giving. Bit like his team, the players, the bloke running the show...£80m in debt, ground mortgaged, absentee owner, dropping like a stone, horrific situation. https://twitter.com/bcfc/status/1280792490367315969
And to think I was given some stick by the club - again - for daring to question the timing of Clotet’s exit. I have to say it’s a good job there aren’t any fans in the ground.
I mean, it’s so basic, it makes you want to weep. Clotet was sacked by Darryl Eales at Oxford. Big Blues fan. Would it have been a good idea to ring the bloke and ask him what he thought, or not?
Dean signs a new four-year deal last year. But Morrison goes. It’s not fair to release the salary figures but even if if they were comparable, why extend one deal and let another player go? There was no need.
I could go through the season. The raft of below-par Spanish imports, not one of whom has paid off. What’s all that about? They even had another charge upheld against them by the EFL. That’s on top of the nine points the club has already been deducted.
There is absolutely no harm now handing over the team to Paul Robinson. At least we might see some semblance of fight because under Clotet the club is sleepwalking to yet another potentially-disastrous ending.
I’m sorry this is so negative but it’s difficult to be anything but. It’s an absolute shambles and the players are now showing what they think of the situation. Not that they should be absolved from blame, either.
They were competitive enough before the break. I think they should be reminded that some of them - on, yes, contracts of over £20k-per-week won’t be earning that in League One.
Having said that, if it means the club changing hands over to someone who cares and can take it forward properly, I’d take that. Anything but this, it’s been a lost decade under the stewardship of hapless and clueless individuals. And that’s being kind.
As evidence of that you’ve got the bloke supposedly running the show standing pitch side at Wast Hills in his tracksuit. It’s laughable. Imagine Chelsea’s Roman Abramovich taking training at Cobham...
I hope Clotet walks away. The club hasn’t got anything to lose now by shaking his hand. Nice enough fella but quite honestly, he couldn’t inspire me to get out of bed. I’m into my fifth decade and shouldn’t care any more but watching it unfold - again - when it’s unnecessary...
Anyway, I’m getting a drink...
