Today I asked Min Social Dev & Housing about the plan to address actual housing solutions for homeless and housing insecure Islanders. Without a plan and $ we are looking at a third year of renting motel rooms to safely house our homeless this winter. #peipoli #peihousingcrisis

There has been some increase in temp but critical supports like emergency shelters - but we cannot reduce or eventually eliminate homelessness if we don't build social housing with #housingfirst principles. We need to do both.

There are significant @CMHC_ca funds available focused on developing energy efficient, accessible and socially inclusive housing for mixed-income, mixed-tenure and mixed-use affordable housing uses. It is past time #PEI government put money into social housing infrastructure.
