I missed last week because I was sick w/ not-COVID, but I’m back at Tulsa Police HQ for the local pandemic update.

Honestly live tweeting these has made my notes suck and made more work for myself when writing, so I’m only gonna tweet if big news breaks.

“I don’t know. I really don’t.” - Dr. Dart responding to a casual pre-presser question from one of his fellow Huskers fan in the press corps, on whether there will be any college football this year.
It would appear no mask mandate coming today. Dr. Dart says, once again, he “strongly recommends” wearing them and that businesses require them of guests.
Dr. Dart says that if trends continue in the wrong direction, he will request local mayors make masks mandatory. But not yet. (Tulsa Mayor GT Bynum has said he would implement such a policy if Dart recommended it.)
Dart (who I forgot to identify in this thread: director of @TulsaHealthDept) says he wants to wait “a couple more days” of looking at data before making the call on mandatory masking.
Gives me no pleasure to report this was right https://twitter.com/chriskpolansky/status/1280919589451452417?s=21 https://twitter.com/chriskpolansky/status/1280919589451452417
Mayor @gtbynum says the reason he hasn’t yet mandated masks is because “if you put an order in, you have to enforce it.” Suggests it would strain the agencies/dept’s that would be responsible for enforcement
Says “we need to be at a point where we have no other choice” than to mandate masks. And he doesn’t think we’re there.
